To announce the arrival of the new 70-room boutique hotel designed by MA, the firm provided art and architectural support services to develop the Wythe’s iconic "HOTEL" sign, designed by artist Tom Fruin. The monumental 50 foot-tall marquee is made from colorful scavenged signage collected from all corners of New York City and fronted by four-stroke red neon, evoking the vanishing face of old New York.
