Located in Philadelphia’s Center City neighborhood, The Girard is a cornerstone of the East Market revitalization effort. The contemporary glass and steel mixed-use building brings new residential, hospitality, and retail programs to the evolving downtown neighborhood.

Located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia, the East Market neighborhood is undergoing a significant transformation into a mixed-use destination that blends large format and boutique shopping and dining with modern working and living spaces. As part of the master planned effort to create a dynamic urban environment, MA was selected to design three unique projects within the redevelopment site, including The Girard.

Recently completed, The Girard is a mixed-use building that brings new residential units, extended stay hospitality suites, and two levels of retail within a contemporary glass and steel shell. While the tower’s large factory windows and channeled metal paneling references Philadelphia’s general industrial heritage, the podium features a more poignant nod to the nearby PSFS building’s famous rounded corner with one of its own.

The residential portion of The Girard includes 180 market-rate apartments, as well as 60 furnished suites operated under the ROOST extended stay hotel brand. In addition to serving as the design architect for the building, MA designed the interiors for the residential units, furnished ROOST suites, as well as the shared amenities areas, such as the social lounge, game room, chef’s kitchen, and pool lounge.
