Maung Maung Mirrors is by Nina Cho, an artist and designer currently based in Detroit. Nina was born in the United States and raised in Korea, where she studied at Korea’s art school, Hong-Ik University. She then earned an MFA in 3D Design at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Nina explains that while mirrors may be two-dimensional, they feel three-dimensional to her. “Maung Maung is the Korean word for an obscured sense of depth; when a view is so vast that you lose a sense of where it ends. I’m inspired by a sense of endlessness that is presented by mirrors. Beyond reflection, there’s a blurring of space and time that captivates the mind.”
