Morris Adjmi Honored with NYC HDC Landmarks Lion Award

Since 1990, the Historic Districts Council (HDC) has honored individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to preserving New York City’s historic buildings and neighborhoods. At its Fall 2025 Gala, HDC recognized MA Founder and Principal Morris Adjmi with the prestigious Landmarks Lion Award, honoring his enduring commitment to protecting and celebrating the irreplaceable character of the city’s historic districts.

The award was presented by Frederick Bland, former Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) Commissioner and a 2004 Landmarks Lion Award recipient, with support from honorary co-chairs Erin Rulli, Principal at Higgins Quasebarth & Partners; Robert A. M. Stern, Partner at Robert A. M. Stern Architects and 2010 Landmarks Lion Award recipient; Deborah Berke, Founding Principal of TenBerke; and Albert Laboz, Principal at United American Land LLC.

“In my view, and during the nearly 17 years I served on the Landmarks Commission, Morris Adjmi was the architect whose presentations the Commissioners most looked forward to seeing,” said Frederick Bland. “His designs—particularly new buildings within historic districts—were consistently surprising, inventively contextual, and deeply appropriate. Rarely did he not achieve a unanimous vote of approval.”
