Matthias van Arkel’s riotous paintings, sculptures, and indeterminate objects made of platinum silicone provide a bold counterpoint to the refined architectural space of the MA office. Although the suite of multilayered and multidimensional works are not necessarily site-specific, they add a sense of specificity to any site, crawling up walls and rotting into floors to synthesize a harmonic play between the hard and the soft.
