Gianlorenzo Gasperini
b. 1967, Civitavecchia, Italy

Gianlorenzo Gasperini is a sculptor whose work addresses the precarious state of the human body. He is known for his large bronze sculptures, but also works on smaller scale with alternative materials including resin, wax, and gesso.

Like his wife, Vera Rossi, Gasperini makes work that points toward instabilities of time and space. Though static, his sculptures seem ready to spring to life at any moment. As seen here with Uomo Seduto, the surface of his work also appears eroded due in large part to the accelerated oxidation process typical of bronze.

Gianlorenzo lives and works in Italy. He studied sculpture at the at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and has been included in numerous group exhibitions, primarily in Italy. He had solo shows with RvB arts in Rome in 2016 and 2017. His work is held in several private collections in Italy.
