Bridging past and present, this boutique office building reinterprets SoHo’s architectural legacy and industrial character through craftsmanship and material innovation.
430 West Broadway is a seven-story boutique office building nestled among SoHo’s historic cast-iron and masonry facades between Prince and Spring Streets. Located within the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District, the building responds to its landmarked context through a contemporary interpretation of the neighborhood’s architectural heritage. Its primary façade reimagines the traditional post-and-lintel composition found throughout SoHo as a series of cast zinc screens, celebrating the district’s rich legacy of architectural metalwork.
Inspired by the bullet glass embedded in New York City sidewalks, the patterned zinc screens filter daylight into the office floors while creating depth, texture, and transparency across the façade. The cast zinc elements are paired with custom-colored ACM panels, whose warm tone draws from the weathered steel frames of historic sidewalk grates and street infrastructure. In contrast, the secondary façades transition into a tactile brick that evokes the clinker brick party walls characteristic of SoHo and the broader urban fabric of New York City.
The building’s massing, setbacks, and material palette were carefully developed in collaboration with the Landmarks Preservation Commission, ensuring a contextual street presence while allowing the upper levels to recede from view. The result is a distinctly contemporary addition that respectfully reinterprets the historic character of the neighborhood.
Inside, the building offers refined, contemporary workspaces defined by a warm, neutral palette of natural stone, fluted plaster wall paneling, ambient lighting, and meticulously crafted custom pantries. The seventh-floor amenity lounge and rooftop terrace extend this elevated workplace experience through a bespoke kitchen, custom leather banquette seating, and carefully curated furnishings and finishes. Together, these spaces create a welcoming and sophisticated environment that seamlessly balances comfort, functionality, and understated luxury.
